Coding Communication: Nanoliter Volume Tear Fluid Testing on a Microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip (December 2010)
December 2010 page 11 Coding Communication: Nanoliter Volume Tear Fluid Testing on a Microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip Advances in laboratory technology are allowing analytics on very small volume specimens. In CPT 2011, there is a new code representing one of the first clinical uses of microfluidic analytics. Whether other clinically useful nanoliter volume tests will be developed remains to be seen, but the potential is intriguing. Code 83861, Microfluidic analysis utilizing an integrated collection and analysis device, tear osmolarity, to report testing of tear fluid has been added to the Pathology and Laboratory section of the CPT 2011 codebook. Tear fluid...
