AMA Comment Code 83631 was added to describe quantitative determination of lactoferrin in feces, and to distinguish the quantitative test from the qualitative test (86360). Fecal lactoferrin is used to determine the presence of intestinal inflammation and to differentiate inflammatory from non-inflammatory gastrointestinal disease.
