E-Health is a Big Deal in 2020

The new 2020 CPT codes are on the way! We are expecting to see 248 new codes, 71 deletions, and 75 revisions.

Health monitoring and e-visits are getting a lot of attention; 6 new codes play a vital part in patients taking part in their care from their own home. New patient-initiated online digital E/M CPT codes will be used for established patients and provided by a physician or other qualified health care provider using 99421, 99422, and 99423. In addition, there are e-visits with a non-physician health care professional reporting for established patients using 98970, 98971 and 98972.

99473 and 99474 have also been added to help physicians manage hypertension while giving patients an important role in their health. This will encourage self-measured blood pressure by the patient, either in their home or somewhere other than the clinic.
