Monkeypox virus Clade II

Based on the virus genome sequence there are two clades/variants of the Monkeypox virus, also known as variants, recognised; Clade I and Clade II. Additionally, it was agreed that the Clade II consists of two subclades; Clade IIa and Clade IIb, with the latter referring primarily to the group of variants largely circulating in the 2022 global outbreak.
