Allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction initiated by proven immunologic mechanisms. Hypersensitivity is defined as conditions clinically resembling allergy that cause objectively reproducible symptoms or signs, initiated by exposure to a defined stimulus at a dose tolerated by normal subjects.
