1B53 Meningitis due to Streptococcus International Classification of Diseases for Mortality and Morbidity Statistics, 11th Revision, v2024-01 A disease of the meninges, caused by an infection with the gram-positive bacteria genus Streptococcus. This disease commonly presents with nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and confusion. Transmission is through haematogenous spread to the meninges after inhalation of infected respiratory secretions. Confirmation is by identification of Streptococcus in the cerebrospinal fluid.
