Helicobacter pylori [Quantitative] in Stomach by urea breath test   29892-7

LOINC Code

LOINC code29892-7
nameHelicobacter pylori [Quantitative] in Stomach by urea breath test
descriptionThe patient ingests C-14 or C-13 (which is not radioactive) labeled urea , the clinic collects the patients exhaled breath and the lab measures the amount of the chosen isotope in the exhaled CO2. H pylori produces urease that digests urea to produce CO2. The most common isotope is C13 which is detected by infrared spectroscopy. Tagged CO2 in the breath is evidence of gastric Helicobacter pylori infection.
statusDISCOURAGED

Fully-Specified Name

componentCarbon dioxide^post dose urea
propertyACnc  =  Arbitrary Concentration
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemExhl gas  =  Exhaled gas (breath)
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
