descriptionThe DI-PAD or Diagnostic Instrument for Psychoses and Affective Disorders is an 83 question interviewer-administered instrument designed to elicit information regarding a research subject's functioning and psychopathology with particular emphasis on affective disorders and schizophrenia. It is an American-English adaptation of the Diagnostic Interview for Psychoses ((DIP) Castle et al., 2006). This protocol must be conducted by a trained mental health interviewer. A DI-PAD Training manual is available at the following link: DI-PAD_quick_reference_guide.pdf. The Psychiatric Working Group notes that unaffected members of the general population can complete this protocol in less than 15 minutes but that affected individuals may require as long as 45 minutes to finish. Contained in this instrument are questions about thoughts of suicide. If using these protocols, please inform your Institutional Review Boards of these questions and institute a plan of action for dealing with suicidal thoughts in your respondent. It may be necessary to create a separate protocol for immediate action and/or referral.
