name | Enterovirus sp [Presence] in Isolate by Immunofluorescence
description | Enteroviruses include polio, coxsackie and echoviruses and are in the Picornaviridae family. Enteroviruses are responsible for a wide variety of disease, from conjunctivitis and upper respiratory infections to aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, and paralytic poliomyelitis. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the Light Diagnostics Pan-Enterovirus detection kit, which can detect the presence of 67 numbered enterovirus types, including 31 echoviruses, 23 coxsackie A and 6 coxsackie B viruses, 3 polioviruses and 4 other enteroviruses.
status | ACTIVE | ||
Fully-Specified Name | |||
component | Enterovirus sp
property | PrThr = Present or threshold: The Property PrThr stands for “Presence or Threshold”, meaning either a) the actual presence or absence of an analyte, or b) that the amount of analyte detected is over some predetermined threshold.
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | Isolate | ||
scale | Ord = Ordinal: Ordered categorical responses, e.g., 1+, 2+, 3+; positive, negative; reactive, indeterminate, nonreactive.
method | IF = Immune Fluorescence: Encompasses DFA, IFA, FA. Usually applies to cells and smears examined microscopically so that both the “where” and the “what” can be assessed, but can also be used on fluids in a way similar to ELISA. Does not include Cell binding assays (see CBA IFA above).

LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.

last change type | MIN - change to field other than name
change reason | The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
