description | The quantitative estimate for a patient's lifetime risk for having an atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) based on the Pooled Cohort Equations as published in the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Assessment of Cardiovascular Risk. The lifetime ASCVD risk estimate is used an adjunct to short-term (10-year) risk assessment and to facilitate discussion regarding risk reduction through lifestyle change. It is calculated using the patient's age, sex, race, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood pressure lowering medication use, diabetes status, and smoking status. The equations were developed by the ACC/AHA Risk Assessment Work Group and derived from non-Hispanic white and African American populations from 40 to 79 years of age. Per ACC/AHA, the estimates of lifetime risk are most directly applicable to non-Hispanic whites. They recommend using the values for other race/ethnic groups, but the estimates may represent under- and overestimates for persons of various ethnic groups.[PMID: 24222018] A spreadsheet enabling estimation of 10-year and lifetime risk for ASCVD is available for download at http://my.americanheart.org/cvriskcalculator.

time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | ^Patient | ||
scale | Qn = Quantitative: The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
