LOINC Code

LOINC code95768-8
nameParathyrin.1-84 [Moles/volume] in Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay
descriptionParathyroid hormone is an 84 amino acid peptide designated PTH 1-84. Presence of the first six N-terminal amino acids ("N-terminus") is required for PTH biological activity, so assays that detect biologically active PTH have to, at a minimum, detect the N-terminus. This assay is different from intact parathyroid hormone assays, which are called intact because they detect the PTH molecule before it is degraded into C-terminal and N-terminal fragments by looking for the presence of segments in both the C- and N-terminal sides, but they do not necessarily detect the N-terminus. The measured PTH (1-84) value of a patient's sample can vary depending on the testing procedure used, so results from assays from various manufacturers cannot be used interchangeably.

Fully-Specified Name

componentParathyrin.1-84
propertySCnc  =  Substance Concentration
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemSer/Plas
    Ser  =  Serum
    Plas  =  Plasma
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
methodIA  =  Immunoassay:  Encompasses all immunoassays with a few exceptions, including Immune Blot and Immune Fluorescence, which were created based on historic usage.
