description | The endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) is the area under the curve of a thrombin generation test (TGT). It represents thrombin's total enzyme activity and is the most predictive of bleeding and/or thrombosis risk out of all the TGT measurements. [PMID: 21262433] Measuring the ETP in the presence of Factor VIII antibodies is done to help determine the contribution of Factor VIII to the ETP. If the ETP is significantly decreased in the presence of Factor VIII antibodies, that indicates that Factor VIII had a significant contribution to the baseline ETP. If the ETP does not decrease, then Factor VIII did not have a large contribution. [PMID: 12871369]

component | Endogenous thrombin potential^after addition of Factor VIII Ab
property | TmSCnc = Time substance concentration
time | Pt = Point in time: To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
system | PPP = Platelet poor plasma
scale | Qn = Quantitative: The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256
method | Chromo = Chromogenic/Enzymatic Assay: To distinguish coagulation assays based on chromogenic (enzymatic) activity.
