Attempted stenting of a coronary artery chronic total occlusion with drug-eluting stent insertion of a separate vessel
A patient with coronary artery chronic total occlusion (CTO) and stenosis presents for insertion of drug-eluting stents into the ramus branch and the mid-circumflex arteries. Local anesthesia was utilized. The right radial artery was prepped and a 7-French sheath was inserted. A run-through wire was advanced to the ramus branch and a 2.5 x 22 mm drug-eluting stent was deployed up to 16 atmospheres. A microcatheter was advanced to the mid-circumflex artery initially, over the run-through wire and then a coated guidewire was used. Due to several attempts to cross the total occlusion, the procedure was discontinued.
