Approval change for tetanus, diphtheria toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine Pertussis is a respiratory illness also known as whooping cough. On October 7, 2022, the FDA expanded its approval of the Boostrix vaccine (Tetanus, diphtheria toxoids and acellular pertussis) from protecting an individual from pertussis during pregnancy to now include vaccine administration during the third trimester of pregnancy in order to prevent pertussis in infants 2 months of age and younger.  Infants under 2 months of age are most at risk for serious pertussis illness and death since they are too young to receive a pertussis vaccine series...
