CMS has recently clarified that all hospitals are to bill the appropriate durable medical equipment carrier (DMERC) for certain take-home drugs. Hospitals are required to have a supplier number for billing the DMERC for take-home supplies of these drugs. There are two ways to obtain a supplier number: 1. Hospitals can call the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) directly for an application form, or 2.
