The Discontinuation of H1N1 Vaccine Codes
According to information published by the American Medical Association (AMA), the H1N1 vaccine product which was developed in 2009 for the Swine Flu Pandemic is no longer offered. Therefore, CPT codes 90663 , Influenza virus vaccine, pandemic formulation, H1N1, and CPT code 90470 , H1N1 immunization administration (intramuscular, intranasal), including counseling when performed, should no longer be reported. Therefore, since January 1, 2011, under the OPPS and any other Medicare payment system, CPT codes 90663 and 90470 are discontinued and no longer payable.
