In Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Third Quarter 2006, page 7, question 16 stated that the patient arrived in the emergency department (ED) with an intravenous (IV) hydration infusion that was started in the field. The IV hydration infusion was administered for a total of 45 minutes in the hospital. In addition, the patient received an IV push of an antibiotic for 10 minutes. A 13.0 cm laceration of the face was noted and layered closure was performed. Wouldn’t CPT code 90760 be reported for the hydration by hospitals reporting to non- OPPS payers? ...
