Endoscopic elastography of the pancreas

A patient presents for an endoscopic ultrasound shear elastography of the pancreas due to chronic pancreatitis. The endoscope was passed under direct vision through the mouth and advanced to the second part of the duodenum. Endosonographic imaging identified mild chronic pancreatitis present in the pancreatic head, body and uncinate process. The shear wave elastography is performed for ultrasound imaging of the pancreas to assess the stiffness of the organ’s tissue or to identify fibrosis. The hepatic and gallbladder vasculature showed no abnormalities.
