Excision of an umbilical pilonidal cyst
A patient presented with an umbilical pilonidal cyst. A supraumbilical incision was made and the cyst and tract were removed its entirety. We are seeking advice on how to properly code excision of an umbilical pilonidal cyst. Is CPT code 11770 only assigned for pilonidal cysts in the sacral area or can the same code be used when the cyst is in the umbilicus? Would CPT code 10121 be more appropriate?
