Nail avulsion repair

The patient presents to the emergency department for evaluation of a nail avulsion of the right middle finger with an open tuft fracture of the right third digit. There is mildly decreased sensation to the right 3rd digit. The patient was prepped and draped. Anesthesia was achieved via nerve block. The area was cleansed with saline and Shur-Clens. Two nylon sutures were used to repair the skin wound. The nail avulsion overlapping the fracture was tacked back into place with two sutures.
