Two New G codes for Annual Alcohol Screening and Counseling
CMS has created two new HCPCS G codes for alcohol screening and counseling. Effective for dates of service on or after October 14, 2011, the following codes were created for screening and behavioral counseling: HCPCS Code Code Descriptor G0442 Annual alcohol misuse screening, 15 minutes G0443 Brief face-to-face behavioral counseling for alcohol misuse, 15 minutes Please note that to report this service, the services described above must be provided by a primary care provider.
