New CPT code for Radiofrequency Energy Creation of Thermal Anal Lesions

For calendar year (CY) 2012, the CPT Editorial Panel created a new Category III code for radiofrequency energy creation of thermal anal lesions. Newly created CPT code 0288T, Anoscopy, with delivery of thermal energy to the muscle of the anal canal (eg, for fecal incontinence), was created effective for dates of service on or after January 1, 2012. This code replaced HCPCS code C9716, Creations of thermal anal lesions by radiofrequency energy, which was deleted on December 31, 2011. ...
