New CPT codes for a permanent leadless pacemaker

New CPT codes have been created for the reporting of a permanent leadless pacemaker. Effective January 1, 2019, the new CPT codes may be reported to capture the transcatheter insertion, replacement, and removal of a permanent leadless pacemaker in the right ventricle. Presently, leadless pacemakers are reported with CPT Category III codes 0387T, 0388T, 0389T, 0390T, and 0391T. These CPT codes will be deleted and replaced with the new permanent CPT codes listed in the table below.
