New interim codes for sodium hyaluronate products
CMS has decided to establish separate payment for sodium hyaluronate products that have come into the market since October 2003, and therefore, have created four new interim Q codes. These codes became effective on January 1, 2007 and are listed in Table 4, page 14. HCPCS code J7319 , Hyaluronan (sodium hyaluronate) or derivative, intra-articular, per injection, was created for use effective January 1, 2007. Please note, however, that this code is not recognized by Medicare for Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) reporting and will be deleted on March 31, 2007.
