Repair/augmentation of plantar soft tissue with GraftJacket
A patient with severe plantar atrophy due to surgery for plantar fibromatosis presents for plantar soft tissue repair/augmentation using the GraftJacket. A pocket in the deep subcutaneous plantar tissue was created. Needles were used to suture the graft to the far corners of the defect in order to draw the graft into the body and correct position. The subcutaneous tissue was closed and the skin repaired. Our surgeon is performing plantar soft tissue repair/augmentation using GraftJacket. Our facility will report CPT code 17999, Unlisted procedure, skin, mucous membrane and subcutaneous tissue. Should we also code a complex repair or adjacent tissue transfer with CPT code 17999? Please note: Physicians at our facility utilize the application of the GraftJacket as an implant for reinforcement during plantar soft tissue repair, fat pad augmentation, internal placement in a wound, or utilized as a protective wound covering. If the GraftJacket is utilized internally, placed deeply into the deep tissue or anchored with sutures as a wound covering, what are the correct CPT and HCPCS codes? ...
