Since January 1, 2015 hospitals were instructed by CMS to report HCPCS code G0277 , Hyperbaric oxygen under pressure, full body chamber, per 30 minute interval, for hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves the breathing of pure oxygen in a pressurized room or tube. A treatment established for decompression sickness is now utilized in the treatment of other conditions such as air or gas embolism, burns, wounds that have not healed with other treatment.
