Reporting units of service for drugs
In the First Quarter 2006 of the HCPCS Coding Clinic, we addressed the issue of referring to the long descriptor when coding and billing correctly for HCPCS drug codes. Specifically, when billing for the drug and radiopharmaceutical codes, make sure that you are reporting units of service based on the HCPCS code descriptor and the dosage used for the patient.
