Securing of a Permacatheter
A patient presents to the emergency department (ED) with concerns that his dialysis permacatheter (right subclavian) is not securely sutured. The patient is prepped and draped. The area is anesthetized via injection. Double, simple sutures (total of 3 sutures) were placed at the site proximally and distally. Would we report a simple closure or an evaluation & management (E/M) code for the suture placement?
