Use of modifier(s)
Modifiers are utilized to offer additional information about the procedure or service being provided, such as, reporting or indicating that a service or procedure was altered by a specific circumstance but not changed in its definition or code. Because unlisted CPT codes do not describe a specific procedure and/or service, it would be inappropriate to append a modifier to the unlisted CPT code.
