Angiodysplasia

Effective October 1, 1990, new fifth-digit categories have been created for the classification of angiodysplasia. Angiodysplasia, or vascular ectasia of the intestinal tract, is a term that refers to the development of multiple ectatic, tortuous, submucosal veins and arteries anywhere in the intestinal tract which can be a source of intestinal hemorrhage. Angiodysplasia unspecified as to site is assumed to be of the intestine and 569.84 is to be assigned. If angiodysplasia is specified as of the stomach or duodenum, code 537.82 is to be used. 537.8 Other specified disorders of stomach and duodenum 537.82...
