A new subcategory was created with two new codes to uniquely identify acute and chronic candidiasis of vulva and vagina as follows:• B37.31, Acute candidiasis of vulva and vagina • B37.32, Chronic candidiasis of vulva and vagina Candidiasis of vulva and vagina (vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC)), commonly known as vaginal yeast infection, is inflammation of the vulva and vagina due to Candida, typically C albicans. A patient may experience signs and symptoms that include pruritus, vaginal soreness, dyspareunia, external dysuria, vulvar edema and erythema, and abnormal vaginal discharge.
