Cardiac electrophysiologic stimulation and recording studies, currently assigned to 37.29, generically referred to as electrophysiologic studies (EP studies), are procedures for the diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients with ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, both of which are forms of cardiac arrhythmias that carry a high risk of sudden cardiac death.
