Cervical Dysplasia
Effective October 1, 2004, code 622.1 has been expanded to allow the reporting of dysplasia of cervix (622.10), mild dysplasia of cervix [CIN I] (622.11), and moderate dysplasia of cervix [CIN II] (622.12). These changes were made to reflect the most recent version of the Bethesda system, which is used to report abnormal Pap smear results. Cervical dysplasia is a term used to describe the appearance of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix.
