Cholesterolosis
Cholesterolosis is a condition of the gallbladder characterized by abnormal deposits of cholesterol and other lipids in the lamina propria or lining of the gallbladder. In its diffuse form the condition is known as "strawberry gallbladder." The mucosa of the gallbladder is brick red and speckled with bright yellow flecks of lipid. Microscopic examination of the gallbladder shows collections of lipid-laden foamy cells in the lamina propria just below the lining of the epithelium.
