Contact Dermatitis and Other Eczema Due to Animal Dander
Effective October 1, 2004, code 692.84, has been created to specifically identify contact dermatitis and other eczema due to animal hair and dander. Contact dermatitis is skin irritation in response to exposure to an allergen. Common allergens include soaps and detergents, chemicals, metal, rubber, dyes, fabric, preservatives, medications, fragrances, poison ivy, poison oak, and related plants. Symptoms vary from itching and redness, to blisters and open sores depending on individual sensitivity and the affected area of the body.
