Disruption of Perma-Catheter Fibrin Sheath Via Angioplasty of Superior Vena Cava
An 80-year-old patient with an indwelling perma-cath presented because the catheter was malfunctioning. While in the hospital, the patient underwent balloon angioplasty of the superior vena cava to disrupt the fibrin sheath and catheter exchange. During the procedure, balloon angioplasty of the superior vena cava (SVC) was done. Next, the old malfunctioning perma-cath was exchanged for a new one, using the existing subcutaneous tunnel.
