Exchange of Tunneled Catheter
A patient with renal failure requiring hemodialysis presents for a tunneled hemodialysis catheter exchange secondary to poor blood flow. The catheter was loosened from its existing tunnel, and was then removed using fluoroscopic guidance. A new access catheter was placed through the existing tunnel and into the lower superior vena cava using fluoroscopic guidance. The peripheral portion of the catheter was secured to the skin with sutures. Is the root operation “Change” appropriate for this procedure? ...
