Excision of Synovial Cyst
A patient diagnosed with a left L4-L5 synovial cyst with degenerative joint disease was taken to the operating room for left laminectomy (L4-L5), with removal of synovial cyst. An incision was made overlying the levels between L4 and L5. The laminectomy included a significant amount of the lamina of L4, and a medial partial facetectomy was required. The synovial cyst was dissected away from the dura and root sleeve obtaining complete decompression. Next, the nerve root was decompressed into the foramen.
