Hyperglycemia due to Immunotherapy Drugs in Pre-Existing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

A patient with pre-existing type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) presented with hyperglycemia. Provider documentation states that hyperglycemia is likely secondary to autoimmune DM, which occurred following the initiation of immunotherapy medication. The Index directs to category E10-, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, under autoimmune DM. Therefore, it appears that codes from both categories E10 and E11 are assigned, for autoimmune DM and pre-existing type 2 DM. What is the correct code assignment for hyperglycemia secondary to autoimmune DM caused by the initiation of immunotherapy medication, when the patient has pre-existing type 2 DM? ...
