Provider documentation states that hyperglycemia is likely secondary to autoimmune DM, which occurred following the initiation of immunotherapy medication. The Index directs to category E10-, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, under autoimmune DM. Therefore, it appears that codes from both categories E10 and E11 are assigned, for autoimmune DM and pre-existing type 2 DM. What is the correct code assignment for hyperglycemia secondary to autoimmune DM caused by the initiation of immunotherapy medication, when the patient has pre-existing type 2 DM? ...
