Insertion of Catheter/Tube for Brachytherapy

The patient underwent fiberoptic bronchoscopy with brachytherapy catheter insertion under fluoroscopic guidance for future afterloading with radium for treatment of small cell carcinoma, right upper lobe of the lung. The afterloading portion is usually done at a later date and may even be done at another facility. Code 92.27, Implantation or insertion of radioactive elements, includes the afterloading technique.
