Intracranial and Brain Temperature Monitoring

Effective October 1, 2007, the following new codes have been created to report intracranial pressure, oxygen and brain temperature monitoring: • 01.10 Intracranial pressure monitoring • 01.16 Intracranial oxygen monitoring • 01.17 Brain temperature monitoring These codes include the insertion of the catheter or probe for monitoring, as well as the monitoring. Intracranial pressure, intracranial oxygen and brain temperature monitoring devices are used in the management of cerebrovascular injury, traumatic brain injury, and other brain disorders that produce increased intracranial pressure with subsequent decrease in the levels of brain tissue...
