Monkeypox

The World Health Organization has declared the global monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. There is also concern because the disease is endemic in central and western Africa, and is not typically seen in the United States. Monkeypox is an uncommon infection caused by the monkeypox virus, which is similar to the virus responsible for smallpox. Monkeypox is rarely fatal and does not cause severe disease as smallpox does.
