Periorbital (Preseptal) Cellulitis
Subcategory L03.21, Cellulitis and acute lymphangitis of face, has been expanded to specifically identify periorbital cellulitis (L03.213). Periorbital cellulitis is an infection or inflammation of the eyelid or skin around the eye. Cellulitis around the orbit of the eye and the preseptal area is not to be confused with orbital cellulitis or postseptal cellulitis, which affects the orbit, can affect the eye, and is a more severe infection.
