Prediabetes
A unique code has been created to describe prediabetes (R73.03). Previously, prediabetes did not have its own code, but was an inclusion term at code R73.09, Other abnormal glucose. Prediabetes means that blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), prediabetes is defined as having: impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or a Hemoglobin A1c value of 5.7-6.4%. ...
