Removal of Nonruptured Extrauterine Pregnancy

Intraligamentous (extraperitoneal) and intraperitoneal ectopic pregnancies, though clinically managed in a similar manner, are currently coded using two different procedure codes. Effective October 1, 1992, code 69.11, Removal of intraligamentous (extraperitoneal) ectopic pregnancy, and code 74.3, Removal of intraperitoneal embryo, have been combined into one code. The code title for code 74.3, Removal of intraperitoneal embryo, has been revised to read, Removal of extratubal ectopic pregnancy, and now includes the removal of both types of ectopic fetuses. Code 69.11 has been deleted. Additionally, subcategory 66.0 has been revised to differentiate between the two methods...
