Serotonin Syndrome

Code G90.81, Serotonin syndrome, has been created for serotonin syndrome, a condition that is caused by excess serotonin in the central nervous system. This syndrome, also referred to as serotonin toxicity, can occur due to many reasons, including therapeutic medication use, drug interactions, and intentional overdoses. The presentation of this syndrome can vary widely and ranges from mild symptoms to fatal if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Mild symptoms can include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, and nervousness. Moderate symptoms include agitation, abnormal eye movements (side to side) and involuntary muscle movements such as twitching, contractions, spasms...
