Effective October 1, 2010, changes have been made to the spinal fusion codes (81.02 - 81.08) and re-fusion codes (81.32 - 81.38) in order to help clarify their use. Instructional notes have been added to subcategory 81.0, Spinal Fusion, and subcategory 81.3, Refusion of spine.
