Note:As of October 1, 1992 code 788.3 was expanded to the fifth-digit level to indicate specific types of urinary incontinence. Recent research by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR) shows that urinary incontinence affects at least 15-30% of individuals over the age of 60. Incontinence that is a result of transient causes, such as urinary tract infections and drug reactions, can be easily treated.
