Cerebrospinal Fluid Shunt Replacement
Replacement of malfunctioning or failed cerebrospinal fluid shunts may be reported with the following CPT codes based on the portion of the shunt system replaced:
62194Replacement or irrigation, subarachnoid/subdural catheter
62225Replacement or irrigation, ventricular catheter
62230Replacement or revision of cerebrospinal fluid shunt, obstructed valve, or distal catheter in shunt system
62258Removal of complete cerebrospinal fluid shunt system; with replacement by similar or other shunt at same operation
