A number of Category III codes were added for
CPT 2004. This article discusses only a subset of
these codes: codes 0051T-0056T and 0058T-0059T.
Future issues of CPT Assistant will feature additional
discussions on other Category III code
changes. Codes 0051T-0053T were established to
report implantation, replacement, and repair of a
total artificial heart and its related implantable
components. Codes 0054T-0056T were established
to describe computer-assisted musculoskeletal
